When You Stop Forcing What No Longer Fits
The truth about the messy middle.
There's a part of entrepreneurship that rarely gets talked about.
Not the launch.
Not the celebration.
Not the ribbon cutting.
Not the social media posts that make it look like everything is falling into place.
I'm talking about what happens in between.
The messy middle.
The place where you're carrying more than anyone realizes.
The first half of this year has been extraordinary.
Our fourth year of the Preventative Health Awareness Movement reached more people than I ever imagined. We began writing a collaborative book filled with remarkable healthcare professionals who believe prevention belongs at the centre of healthcare. PHAMCAST, my podcast and TV show has continued to grow. Incredible conversations, collaborations, and opportunities have appeared that I'm deeply grateful for.
Looking from the outside, it probably seemed like everything was moving exactly as planned.
But life isn't lived on Instagram.
Behind every meeting, podcast, keynote, and smile were difficult family moments, uncertainty, disappointment and some incredibly hard business decisions.
There were days I questioned everything.
Days when I spent more energy trying to build bridges than moving my own vision forward.
Days when I believed that if I just explained my vision one more time, worked a little harder, found one more solution, maybe everyone would finally see what I saw.
Eventually I learned something that every entrepreneur and honestly every human being has to learn.
You cannot make someone believe in your vision.
You cannot convince someone to value what you value.
You cannot force alignment.
And sometimes the strongest leadership isn't convincing people to come with you.
It's having the courage to continue without them.
That realization didn't come easily.
It came through uncomfortable conversations.
Through setting boundaries.
Through letting go of relationships that no longer fit the future I know I'm building.
Through choosing peace over proving myself.
None of that feels exciting while you're living it.
It feels lonely and uncertain.
It feels like standing in the fog wondering whether you're making the biggest mistake of your life.
But here's what surprised me.
The moment I stopped trying to force what wasn't working, something remarkable happened.
My community stepped forward.
People I've invested in for decades reached back.
Doors I wasn't even knocking on began opening.
Opportunities appeared that were bigger than the ones I was desperately trying to hold onto.
It reminded me of something my dad always said:
"Fail forward, and often"
Only now I think I have a new perspective.
Sometimes you haven't failed at all.
Sometimes you've simply outgrown the situation.
Sometimes life is making room for something that's more aligned with who you've become.
Over the past month I've leaned in and worked so hard.
Not because I was chasing something.
Because I was building something that finally feels completely authentic.
Something that reflects my values and my beliefs.
My belief that healthcare should empower people.
That education should always come before fear.
That prevention isn't just about technology.
It's about people.
It's about community.
It's about helping someone know what to do after they receive information.
That's where transformation happens.
Looking back, I wouldn't erase the hard month.
It refined me and clarified my purpose.
It reminded me that relationships built with integrity over thirty-plus years are worth more than any contract.
Trust is a currency that compounds over time.
Today I feel something I haven't felt in a while.
Clarity.
Not because every problem has disappeared.
But because my direction has never been clearer.
The second half of this year feels different.
The book is coming.
The podcast is growing.
New collaborations are emerging.
New technologies are arriving.
New ways to serve people are taking shape.
And they all have one thing in common.
They're aligned.
Maybe that's the lesson I want to leave you with.
If you're standing in your own messy middle right now....
If you're carrying something heavy that no one else can see...
If you're wondering whether letting go means you've lost...
Maybe it doesn't.
Maybe you're simply making room.
Sometimes the bravest thing we can do isn't holding on.
It's trusting ourselves enough to let go of what no longer fits, so we can become who we're meant to be.
The sun always comes back.
And when it does, you don't just see farther.
You see differently.
I can't wait to show you what's coming next.
