The Marg & Meg Story = The Osteosound Difference
It has been quite a ride over the past 2 years since Megan and I embarked on this new journey together.
You may be wondering, how did this collaboration come about?
Megan Buhrmester , Registered Sonographer and I first met 23 years ago. I had the privilege of experiencing Megan's skills firsthand as she was my sonographer when I undergone infertility treatments.
Megan now has over 25 years of clinical experience and is a compassionate and committed professional who truly wants to provide the best quality of care. This was what attracted her to the game-changing, Health Canada approved Echolight REMS Bone Health Analysis technology and what prompted her to found OSTEOSOUND.
Megan immediately knew that it had the potential to enhance the current landscape of bone health analysis. She also recognized the important role that both patient and physician education would need to play when bringing this technology to Canada. This knowledge became the foundation of the collaboration that Megan and I now share today, two years later!
I have been a Registered Massage Therapist for over 32 years, the owner of Wallis for Wellness , an award winning preventative and integrative wellness clinic, and the visionary behind the first ever Preventative Health Awareness Month/Movement, recognized by Health Canada. My passion for and extensive knowledge in musculoskeletal health is a perfect compliment to this new innovative bone health analysis tool.
Megan understood that collaborating with me to help provide education to professionals and everyday people alike was going to be incredibly important to assist in changing the narrative around bone health diagnosis, management and prevention.
And so began our mission to become the leaders in bone health analysis and preventative health education.
My years of clinical experience in the preventative health space have taught me that regardless of a person's health state or diagnosis, everyone is seeking the same thing. They want to improve their health esteem and feel empowered to take charge and become the CEO of their Health.
Everyone's first question, after their REMS bone health analysis, whether they are told that they have osteopenia, osteoporosis or healthy bones, is "now what?"
Through our experience in delivering this vital technology to multiple communities, we've established ourselves as an anchor. We strive to provide something different than just bone health analysis; it's one of the core values that sets us apart. It is the OSTEOSOUND DIFFERENCE.
As we have taken this innovative technology into communities, clinics, corporations, trade-shows, events and homes across Ontario over the past 18 months, we have gained valuable knowledge. We've shared laughter and tears and have been privileged to listen to many stories that come along with supporting those who seek us out.
It has been a honour to conduct scans for over 650 people (and climbing every day). We truly believe that we have a responsibility to ensure that everyday people, as well as healthcare professionals, learn about this new technology and the role it can play in preventative health.
It has become clear to us that our mission is to become the leaders in bone health analysis in Canada and your partner in preventative health education. This is "OSTEOSOUND DIFFERENCE!"
The following three "P's" have become the foundation of our collaboration.
PASSION - PURPOSE - PERSISTENCE!
PASSION - we share a passion and compassion for people and are committed to doing our best to provide top quality care and education to everyone we have the privilege of working with.
PURPOSE - we are on a mission to become the leaders in bone health analysis & preventative health education in Canada and to change the legacy of healthcare across North America from the current, "pill for an ill" sick care system to one that that is proactive and preventative.
PERSISTENCE - we not only recognize the work that it takes to create legacy change but we are also willing to be persistent and roll up our sleeves to change the well entrenched bone health narrative despite the push back we receive. We are determined to educate healthcare professionals. We have provided physician educational lunch and learns to share the benefits of this new technology with them so they too can assist us in changing the current narrative from bone sickness to bone health with their patients.
We are utilizing The Preventative Health Awareness Movement (PHAM) to speak with government officials and insurance companies to advocate for change in policies that include investment in preventative health and the medicine 3.0 model.
We are humbled by the growth we are experiencing and the momentum that is building daily as we do our part to shift the mindset in the way the status of bone health is assessed. We see it as a generational conversation; one to be had between healthcare professionals and families in all ages and stages of life!

The mobile nature of this technology allows us to find innovative and creative ways to educate and expose more people to the power of this preventative screening tool.
We are excited to announce the expansion of our business beyond just health & wellness clinics and into corporations, as part of workplace wellness programs, tradeshows, special events and more.
We are also honoured to be working with seniors homes such as Amica Senior Living to bring a falls and fracture prevention program to their residences.
