From Brampton Roots to a National Movement: A Full-Circle Moment for Preventative Health
I’m so excited to share a moment that feels deeply meaningful and incredibly full circle for me.
A homecoming, a community, and a shared commitment to building healthier lives together.
On Wednesday, February 11th at 12:00 PM, the City of Brampton will host a Preventative Health Awareness Movement (PHAM) Flag Raising Ceremony at Ken Whillans Square and I would be honoured to have you there with me.
Brampton is where my passion for preventative and integrative health was planted.
It’s where I was raised as a young girl, surrounded by the very things that make a community thrive — parklands and green spaces, vibrant recreation centres, places to gather, move, breathe, and simply be well together. It’s where I learned what it means to live in community.
I’ve also had the privilege of serving this community through my business for over 30 years, and four years ago, Brampton became the very first community to officially proclaim Preventative Health Awareness Month, a decision rooted in my history here and our shared belief in doing healthcare differently.
Fast forward just four short years, and this grassroots movement has grown beyond anything I could have imagined:
• Over 85 healthcare professionals now stand as PHAM Ambassadors
• Cities from Ottawa to Niagara Falls, rural communities like Exeter, and organizations such as Amica Senior Living in Mississauga are not only proclaiming, they are raising the PHAM flag
• A visible, united statement that everyday Canadians deserve support, education, and tools to live with vitality, not just longevity
This flag represents something bigger than me.
It represents a shared commitment to health-span over lifespan, to prevention over reaction, and to breaking down silos so conventional and complementary healthcare can work together, for the good of our communities and our healthcare system.
That’s why I want to say this clearly:
This is not my movement. This is our movement.
I invite you — individuals, families, organizations, community leaders to come out and be part of this moment. Bring someone with you. Stand with us. Celebrate what’s possible when communities lead.
And if you can’t attend in person, you can still help us elevate this message by sharing it through your corporate email lists, social media channels, and conversations. Every share matters.
I am beyond proud to be coming back to Brampton to mark this moment and even more excited about what comes next as more leaders and communities make this movement their own.
Remember: you are the most important member of your healthcare team.
Join us on February 11th at noon.
Let’s celebrate together.
Your partner in preventative health,
With pride and gratitude,
