PHAM 2026: A Growing Movement Redefining Preventative Health in Canada

Celebrating Our 4th Year of Growth, Collaboration, and Collective Action

We are standing at a defining moment in Canadian healthcare.

For too long, our system has been built on reacting to illness rather than preventing it. Canadians everywhere feel the weight of long wait times, limited access to care, and systems stretched beyond capacity — while chronic disease continues to rise.

In 2023, PHAM — the Preventative Health Awareness Movement — was born out of a bold belief:

We can change the legacy of healthcare in this country when we empower Canadians to become the CEO of their health.

What began as a grassroots idea has now become a national movement recognized by Health Canada, powered not by funding or institutions, but by people. By professionals. By communities. By everyday Canadians who refuse to accept the status quo.

And here we are — stepping proudly into PHAM 2026, our fourth and most expansive year yet.

From Grassroots Idea to National Movement

PHAM launched with a vision to bridge the gaps between allopathic and complementary healthcare, bring professionals together, break down silos, and help Canadians understand their own power in shaping their healthspan — not just their lifespan.

In just three years, PHAM has grown into:

80+ healthcare professionals across disciplines
Multiple micro-movements serving local communities
Thousands of Canadians empowered through PHAM campaigns
A recognized, respected movement across Ontario and beyond

The PHAM community includes physiotherapists, RMTs, chiropractors, nurses, physicians, mental health professionals, holistic practitioners, social workers, massage therapists, researchers, coaches, and wellness leaders — all united by a shared mission.

This is diversity.
This is inclusion.
This is the new direction of healthcare — collaboration over competition.

Micromovements Driving Real Change

One of PHAM’s greatest strengths has been the organic rise of leaders stepping forward to create local impact.

Real Lives Touched by Addiction

Led by the compassionate leadership of Jennifer McCutcheon, this micromovement is breaking stigma, creating safe spaces, and elevating stories that deserve to be heard.

In 2026, this group will host a landmark event in partnership with Loyalist College, supported by businesses, organizations, and political leaders in the Belleville community.

Rural Health Access & Advocacy

We are proud to celebrate Stephanie VandenBussche, founder of Exeter Massage & Integrative Care, as PHAM’s first Rural PHAMBASSADOR.

Stephanie is championing a critical message:
Access to preventative care should not depend on your postal code.

She is leading community-based initiatives, educating rural residents, and driving awareness around the inequities faced by remote and rural communities.

These micromovements reflect PHAM’s deepest truth:

When people lead with purpose, change becomes unstoppable.

PHAM Flag Raising Ceremonies — A Symbol of Hope & Change

Each February, communities across Ontario raise the PHAM Flag to symbolize unity, empowerment, and a renewed commitment to preventative health.

In 2026, we proudly celebrate flag raisings across:

🇨🇦 Ottawa — February 2, 2026
🇨🇦 Exeter — February 9, 2026
🇨🇦 More cities confirming weekly

Every flag represents a community taking a stand for healthier homes, empowered people, and a more sustainable healthcare system.

PHAM 2026: Signature Experiential Days

This year, PHAM Month features two impactful days designed to unite retirement homes, healthy aging organizations, corporations, communities, and healthcare teams.

🗓 Healthy Aging Day — February 18, 2026

A hands-on, interactive celebration of longevity, independence, and self-leadership.
Participants explore practical tools and strategies to age well with strength, clarity, and vitality.

🗓 Healthy Home Day — February 26, 2026

Healthy aging begins at home — both the home you live in and the “home” of your body.
This experiential event includes the Healthy Home: Inside & Out journey through:

Together, these days reflect PHAM’s mission:
Educate. Empower. Inspire. Prevent.

**What Happens After February?

Everything.**

PHAMonth is just the beginning.

The tools, tips, and teachings shared throughout February are yours to use all year long. Think of PHAMonth as your launchpad — the time you filled your toolkit, sharpened your awareness, and took those first powerful steps toward proactive health.

Now comes the transformation.

It’s about implementation, ownership, and connection.
It’s about putting what you learned into action — every day, in small, meaningful ways.

A Collective Effort for Individual Empowerment

PHAM is powered by compassionate, dedicated professionals from both conventional and complementary health fields. Our PHAMbassadors continue to contribute:

✨ Blogs
✨ Podcasts
✨ Community tools
✨ Resources
✨ Support

…long after February has ended.

Why?
Because sustainable change doesn’t happen overnight.
And because preventative health is a lifelong journey, not a one-month initiative.

PHAM is built to be a year-round educational hub, helping you stay curious, engaged, and informed — no matter where you are on your path.

Whether you're just beginning or well on your journey, PHAM walks alongside you.

Stay Connected All Year Long

Just because PHAMonth ends doesn’t mean the learning does.
In fact — we’re just getting started.

Here are powerful ways to stay engaged and keep building your preventative health toolkit:

Collaboration is the catalyst.
And community is where change begins.**
