The Power of Movement & Chiropractic Care: A Key to Preventative Health

Hi there! I’m Dr. Kathy, and as we celebrate Preventative Health Awareness Month (PHAM) this February, I want to take a moment to talk about something near and dear to my heart—movement and chiropractic care.
As a lifelong runner, my love affair with movement began in high school. From the first race I competed in, I was hooked. The rhythm of my breath, the cadence of my feet, and the challenge of pushing my limits became constants in my life. Running carried me through university as a competitive athlete, and it remains a cornerstone of my daily routine to this day. Throughout my movement life I have added cycling and strength training.
This passion for movement inspired my career as a chiropractor. Every day, I have the privilege of helping others embrace the transformative power of movement, showing them how it can enhance not only their physical health but also their overall well-being.
At Move, we’re focusing on spreading awareness about how chiropractic care can support your health and wellness—especially in terms of improving movement, reducing pain, and enhancing overall mobility. It’s a beautiful partnership: movement and chiropractic care working together to keep your body functioning at its best.

Why Movement Is Medicine
For me, movement has always been a source of energy, balance, and healing. It’s not just about fitness or staying in shape—it’s about maintaining my body’s natural rhythm. Whether I’m cycling, running, or lifting weights, I’ve learned that staying active helps me feel stronger, more mobile, and overall healthier. But no matter how much we move, we all need a little help from time to time, and that’s where chiropractic care comes in.
Chiropractic care isn’t just about “cracking backs” or fixing misalignments. It’s a holistic approach that helps keep the spine aligned, supports the nervous system, and restores balance to the body. By improving spinal alignment, chiropractic adjustments enhance your body’s ability to function properly, which can lead to improved movement, reduced pain, and a better overall quality of life.

How Chiropractic Care Supports Movement
Chiropractic care is one of the best ways to enhance movement, and here’s how it helps:
Reduces Pain
Chiropractic care targets the root cause of pain, not just the symptoms. By ensuring your spine is aligned, adjustments help relieve tension and strain on muscles and joints, decreasing pain in the process.
Increases Flexibility and Mobility
Chiropractic care is designed to keep the spine and joints functioning at their best. Regular adjustments improve your range of motion, which is key to maintaining flexibility and preventing stiffness as we age.
Prevents Injuries
By ensuring your spine and body are in balance, chiropractic care helps prevent injuries caused by poor posture or muscle imbalances. When everything is aligned, your body moves more efficiently and safely.
Improves Athletic Performance
Whether you’re a professional athlete or someone who enjoys an active lifestyle, chiropractic care can help improve strength, endurance, and agility. I’ve seen it in my patients who feel more capable in their workouts and daily activities after receiving chiropractic care.
Holistic Healing
Chiropractic adjustments are just one part of the equation. By combining chiropractic care with other healthy habits, such as regular movement, nutrition, and mindfulness, you create a holistic approach to your health. It’s about nurturing your body from the inside out.

Why Preventative Health Matters
Preventative health is all about taking proactive steps to avoid future health issues. Instead of waiting until pain or injury strikes, we can take action now to protect our bodies and keep them functioning optimally. That’s where chiropractic care comes in—it helps to prevent injuries, reduce pain, and improve mobility before bigger problems arise.
This Preventative Health Awareness Month, I encourage you to take a moment to think about your health and how you can be proactive in maintaining it. Pairing regular movement with chiropractic care is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of injury, improve mobility, and ensure that your body stays balanced and strong.
